The women of the Iowa City Cycling Club will present the last event in their Chamois Time Race Series, a gravel road race on Wednesday, September 15th, 2010.  Pre-registration is available at our shop, or by mail (more info on the race page).  This final race will start at 5:45pm to conserve daylight, number pickup will be at Scott Church Park at 5pm.  Be sure to stick around afterwards for the final Chamois Time Race Series awards!  Download the course map.

Bobbers Cross I – Sunday, Sept. 19th

To kick off the Iowa cyclocross season, we are proud to present Bobbers Cross I, the first race in the Eastern Iowa Cyclocross Experiment Series!  A fast course with sand and obstacles should have something for everyone, for a great day of cyclocross racing!  Hope to see you out there!  For more information visit the race page or contact us at bobberscx@geoffsbikeandski.com.

Courage Ride – Saturday, August 28th, 2010

Another great event this weekend is the Courage Ride, an annual bike-ride through the beautiful countryside of Eastern Iowa. The Courage Ride is dedicated to improving the lives of people living wtih cancer by raising money to fund research into sarcoma and other cancers at Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

The Courage Ride 2010 will take place on August 28th at the Iowa Mennonite School in Kalona, IA. Registration begins at 6am. This year we have five mileage increments dividing up our annual ride. The ride will be broken up into 19, 27, 53, 70, and 97 mile increments.

Once again, ICORR is putting on the Sugar Bottom Scramble mountain bike race.  This event is always a great time, and has racing categories for everyone from beginners to advanced, so come on out for a great day of racing!

Coming up this Saturday, during Hoover Days in West Branch, IA the Iowa City Cycling Club is presenting the 2010 Iowa State Road Race Championships.  Events begin at 10am, with registration on site opening at 8:30am.

JCTF Disco Party – Roadies in North Liberty – Aug. 7

The Johnson County Trails Foundation is having a fundraiser at Roadies in North Liberty, IA.  Party begins at 7pm August 7th, and will be a great way to wind down from a fun day of racing at the IA State Road Race.

Monica’s Time Trial Series #5 – Aug. 10

The fifth and last of Monica’s Time Trial Series is August 10th, at 6:30pm just South of Lone Tree, IA.  Registration is held just up the road in Dougherty Park in Lone Tree.  At just $10 for licensed riders, and $20 for unlicensed riders, this is a great way to give racing a shot in a friendly, low-pressure environment!

Iowa State Time Trial Championships – Aug. 15

On August 15th, 2010 the Iowa City Cycling Club will host this years Iowa State Time Trial Championships near Nichols, IA.

The course is a flat out and back, distance either 20k or 40k based on USAC racing category.

Registration will open at 7:00am and close at 8:00am.  Riders will go off in order of registration, with the 20k categories starting first.  Park in the DOT parking lot located just south of Nichols on Hwy 70.

Geoff’s Bike & Ski is proud to partner up with Orbea and NiteRider for a Demo Day at Sugar Bottom Recreation Area, just north of North Liberty, IA off of Mehaffey Bridge Road. Orbea and NiteRider will be at the Beach / Mountain Bike Trailhead parking lot of Sugar Bottom Recreation Area with a variety of road bikes, mountain bikes, and multisport bikes as well as some lights for your test-ride pleasure! Come on out and check it out!
