Midseason Fat Bike Update!

If you woke up to a sweet new fat bike under the tree, you’re a lucky biker. If you didn’t, you’re even luckier because that means you can come pick out your own from our wide variety of fat bike options!

We have fat bikes from Surly, Boo Bikes, and Specialized, with a few oddballs occasionally mixed in. Below is our fat bike corner; not shown are tires, fenders, and other fat bike specific accessories that we keep in stock.

The Surly Pugsley is the original fat bike, and still one of the best. We have a 2014 Special “Ops” Edition Pugsley with an 18″ frame that we’re blowing out. This Pugs is built up with Shimano components, sweet chrome rims, special tan-wall tires, and limited edition paintjob.

Was: $2500, is now $2100.

We’ve had the pleasure of building a few custom fat bikes recently for some lucky customers.

First is this Moots Frosthammer. This is the nicest fat bike you will ever see.

The full titanium frame, with the matching titanium seatpost, is built up with a Sram XX1 drivetrain with a carbon RaceFace Next SL crankset, HED BFD carbon rims laced to Industry Nine hubs, Salsa Makwa carbon fork, Thomson Ti handlebars, and Sram XX brakes.

Next is an Alubooyah fat bike from Boo Bicycles, with a custom paint scheme from Boo.

This beaut belongs to one very happy customer, Mike Loots, who wrote a heartfelt thank-you to the guys at Boo for crafting his steed. The blog post is here.

The shop will be CLOSED SATURDAY OCTOBER 25TH for Bobbers Cross.

Join us at Bobbers Grill, 1850 Scales Bend Rd, North Liberty, IA for an exciting day of cyclocross racing.  First race of the day is off at 10am, last race of the day at 3:30pm.

Jingle Cross Rock 2012 the KMC edition

For the fourth year our very own Kevin did the big boy race, aka UCI Men’s Elite, and threw down with some of the best cyclocrossers in the biz.  Here are some sweet photos of him looking wicked fast and super pro.

Alas it isn’t possible to be so fast and so pro all the time, such was the case for Kevin on Saturday.  Some course tape and stakes maliciously attacked him during the race on Saturday.

Needless to say he got a little bit scraped up.

Unfortunately Kevin wasn’t able to finish the race on Saturday, but thanks to the great docs with UI Sports Medicine he got all patched up and was able to get after it again on Sunday.

Nothing a little bit of super glue to the face and some ace bandages won’t fix.

Jingle Cross Rock 2012 is in the books

What an amazing 3 days of racing at the Johnson County Fairgrounds,  it has been amazing to see this event grow and evolve over the last several years.  Who remembers when the race was small time and held on the Ashton Cross Country course?  Crazy how far things have come.  This year provided us with amazing weather for the entire weekend and great overall racer turnout across all categories.

We would like to give a huge thanks to all the people who make this event happen from the officials all the way down to the junior racers, Jingle Cross wouldn’t be what it is without all of you.

GB&S was proud to have the majority of our staff participate in at least one race, and here is the proof.

Boss man looking good on his S-Works Crux, 3 great days of riding from Geoff despite the plethora of other things he was responsible for.

Kevin was the only Iowan represented in the UCI Men’s Elite, he raced all 3 days, and was the only one B.A. enough to bunny hop the barriers every lap.

I (Nick) raced all 3 days as well,  I think this picture sums up my weekend, more about the fun than the results.

Andy had strong showings on all 3 days as well, his new fancy Ridley X-Night and carbon tubulars sure do make him look fast.

Aaron was only able to race 2 of the days but had great races and just missed the Single Speed podium on Sunday.

Sam also raced 2 of 3 days and put some some really good results in a very competitive Cat 3 race, he also just missed the podium during the race Sunday.
